CitizensCitizens Bank will award $150,000 to six non profits in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware as part of the Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money initiative.

This initiative is part of Citizens’ commitment to educate consumers in personal finance throughout the year.

Getting $20,000 is the Delaware Financial Literacy Institute, Claymont.

The institute was  chosen from  among   150 applicants in a competitive application process announced during Financial Literacy Month in April.  Its selection was  based on their track record of success providing financial education programs, a need for financial support and a demonstration to incorporate sustainability in their future plans. These organizations will receive a contribution in recognition of and to further support their commitments to teaching youth and adults about financial literacy and the importance of managing money effectively.

“Citizens has continuously supported nonprofit organizations in our communities and financial literacy is one of the most important initiatives,” said Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, CEO of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens for Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. “We look forward to working with our nonprofit partners as part of our Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money initiative to reach consumers in our own backyard and teach them about the financial tools available to them.”
