Nearly 200 people packed a Newark City Council meeting Monday night to hear if the proposed Newark Data Center is environmentally sound.
Council members heard the details a third party report on the proposed Data Center. The Data Center (TDC) would be constructed on the University of Delaware’s Science Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) campus. The center would make its own power by constructing a 279-megawatt combined heat and power plant on site. Supporters of the plant tout the jobs it would create in Delaware.
The Data Centers issued a statement questioning some of the findings of the report. Click here for the story:
The proposed power plant has raised concerns among Newark residents, who are worried about the environmental effects the plant could have on the community. Public meetings on the center draw crowds in the hundreds and Monday’s special city council session packed chambers in the city’s municipal building.

The consultant clearly does not understand the fundamental operations of the power plant and data center. To me the report is not a credible document.
