555 The Middletown Odessa Townsend (MOT) Rotary Club honored local family, Jeff & Kerri Lohrfink and their son Jason, who has Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome with a $1,000 donation toward a service dog.

Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder causing multiple problems and significant developmental and cognitive delays. The Lohrfink family is trying to raise money for Jason, who is three years old, to get a service dog which would monitor his breathing, help him walk, open doors, and turn on lights for him.

Because  Jason is not blind, insurance does not contribute for the service dog. The cost for a service dog is $10,000 and the family is working with the service dog training company: AmazingServiceDogs.com. They are raising money with GoFundMe at www.gofundme.com/654vv4, and to date $3,300 has been raised towards the service dog for Jason. With six children, the Lohrfinks said they appreciated the support of the Delaware community.
