Ground will broken for a new plant for a German flooring systems company.
Gov. Jack Markell will join state and local officials for a ground breaking ceremony for Uzin Utz Manufacturing North America Inc.’s new dry mortar plant in the Garrison Oak Technical Park on White Oak Road in Dover on Tuesday.
The company is a subsidiary of Germany-based Uzin Utz AG, a third-generation, family-run flooring company founded by Georg Utz in 1911, according to a release from the Delaware Economic Development Office.
Uzin Utz specializes in professional installation systems for floor coverings, leveling compounds, damp-proofing systems, adhesives for textile, resilient coverings and wood flooring.
Uzin Utz’s 53,000-square-foot facility – its first U.S-based dry mortar plant – will also house a research and development center and an application area for testing and customer training.
The Delaware State News reported the Dover City Council agreed to sell the land for $1,000 acres with abatements in effect that would reduce property taxes over a period of time.
