property_westin_wilmington_riverfrontTwo events focusing on the Delaware economy are coming to the new Westin Hotel on the Wilmington Riverfront.

The first, carrying the name of the Delaware Economic Development Summit, will be held on April 24th from 8 a.m., until 10 a.m. as the first event at the hotel.

Sponsor is the Urban Land Institute Philadelphia.

The event, according to sponsors will look at the “economic development landscape in the state of Delaware — new corporate commitments, employment gains, and real estate transactions that have enabled the State to re-establish itself post-recession. “

Keynote spaker is Tom Murphy, ULI Canizaro/Klingbeil Families Chair for Urban Development and former Mayor of Pittsburgh, will open the program.

Panelists include Alan Levin, Secretary of the Delaware Economic Development Office; Patrick Grusenmeyer, president, Christiana Care Health Initiatives; David Hastings, executive vice president and CFO of phamaceutical company Incyte; and Thomas Horne, Head of Card Operations, JPMorgan Chase.

The second, entitled, the Delaware Economic Summit will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 through Friday, May 2 at the Westin.

Luncheon keynote speaker on the first day is Delaware Economic Office Secretary  Levin. Another luncheon speaker during the four-day event is the founder and President of Dogfish Head, Milton, Sam Calagione.

Throughout the week, the Delaware Economic Summit will host 16 educational sessions, four keynote lunch speakers and a happy hour.

The mission for summit, according to sponsors, is to “create an exciting and engaging event by providing an outlet for Delawareans to learn and discuss financially related topics with local experts.”

 This is the first forum of its kind in Delaware, presented by the private sector, in an effort to offer relevant education to fellow business owners and consumers, according to sponsors.
