The last vestige of a long-running family business is expected to close its doors later this spring.
WDEL reported Miller Carpet One made the decision, citing the economy and consumers with many buying options.
The business is on Basin Road near New Castle Airport. The Miller family operated a small chain of furniture stores for many years, but sold that business a number of years ago to focus on flooring.
The flooring business has also changed with consumer preferences shifting toward hardwood floors and prices for carpeting dropping sharply in some cases.
Miller’s also handled flooring, but was affiliated with a buying organization with the Carpet One name. Click here for a link to the WDEL story.
