polymercoatingmaterialsWhen Merit Mechanical gained the opportunity to renovate the heating and air conditioning system for the nine-story Community Education Building in Wilmington, it turned to its Newark neighbor, Polymer Technologies, for one key element of the project;: Antimicrobial-coated insulation. The building will house schools at a former Bank of America/MBNA office site in downtown Wilmington.

The insulation Merit is utilizing is Polydamp Melamine Foam (PMF), engineered by Polymer Technologies. With an antimicrobial coating, PMF delivers the required environmental and health benefits sought after by the Delaware education facility. The lightweight insulation material also exhibits exceptional resistance to heat, low flame propagation and smoke, as well as excellent acoustical insulation properties resilient to vibration and compression.

Antimicrobial-coated insulation is becoming more and more prevalent in construction requirements due to the environmental benefits it delivers,” reports Robert Prybutok, CEO of Polymer Technologies. At this time, the global antimicrobial coatings market is worth approximately $1.5 billion and is estimated to reach $2.9 billion by 2018.

Polymer Technologies is proud to deliver antimicrobial-coated products and materials to diverse construction and renovation projects throughout Delaware and beyond,” Prybutok said. “Polymer Technologies believes in helping to create clean, healthy environments that are just as environmentally sound as they are acoustically sound and structurally strong.”

Antimicrobial coatings offer proven protection from microbial attachment by controlling growth of unwanted microbes, including bacteria, mold and fungi. Treated coatings, such as Polymer’s PMF, enhance and protect clean environments when used in healthcare institutions, catering facilities, academic environments and other environments with high traffic.
