Delaware Bankruptcy Court approved a plan by the US unit of Chinese firm Wanxiang to acquire Fisker’s assets for $149.2 million.
Plans to revive the Karma as a traditional petrol-guzzling sports car were revealed in US Bankruptcy Court documents. Wanxiang is expected to build a remaining stock of Karmas at a contract plant in Finland, with production to move to the U.S.
Delaware is hoping the former GM plant near Newport will be a manufacturing site, although government officials have been cautious about such prospects.
Still in the cards is a mid-sized hybrid, known as the Atlantic. Wanxiang owns Fisker’s battery maker A123 Systems.
