DelDOT noted that meteorologists with the National Weather Service predicted starting Thursday afternoon an accumulating snow-fall may fall in Delaware and may last into Friday, accumulations will vary throughout the State depending on where snow bands may develop as the forecast is still too early to predict.

Roads throughout New Castle County have been pretreated today with brine, a salt and water mixture, which helps to slow or eliminate snow or ice buildup on the roadways.

DelDOT struggled with a surprise Sunday  snow earlier in the season  that led to snow cover on Interstate 95 and other main routes.

DelDOT crews also spent today preparing snow plows and other equipment.

DelDOT said motorists, during the storm period, should  limit travel to essential trips, allow plenty of time to reach destinations, drive with lights on, wear warm clothing and carry a fully-charged cellular phone with contact information if the vehicle becomes disabled in dangerously cold conditions.
