Two Delaware companies got together to come up with a German-style  beer with a lunar touch.

Dogfish Head released the brew late last week and even by its over-the-top standards, the brewer broke new ground.

Celest-jewel-ale is made with lunar meteorites that have been crushed into dust, then steeped like tea in a rich, malty Oktoberfest, according to the Dogfish blog.

ILC Dover , the company that created the moon suit, helped Dogfish come up with the rare lunar materials.

The brew is only served at Dogfish Head’s Rehoboth Beach brewpub. ILC further contributed to the new brew with koozies made with the same material as space suits that featured materials from Delaware companies  that are not usually associated with beer.

The outer layer is Orthofabric, which is specially woven to have white Gore-Tex  PTFE on the exterior and DuPont  Nomex  with a Kevlar  ripstop on the interior.

The  materials in the koozie can withstand the rigors of space and do the same for the new brew. The koozies are not for sale.
