Dover Downs honored for support of Guard, Reserve

The Delaware Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office of the Department of Defense, presented  to Dover Downs Hotel & Casino the Above and Beyond Award.

The award recognizes employers who go beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing Guard and Reserve employees with additional, non-mandated benefits.

The national award is given in limited numbers by state committees to employers who have had at least one of their supervisors or managers recognized with a Patriot Award, and who have signed or agree to sign a statement of support. Dover Downs Hotel & Casino signed statements of support in 2006 and 2011.

The award was presented by Frank Ingraham, state chair for Delaware ESGR and accepted on behalf of Dover Downs Hotel & Casino by employees Greg Gyarmati, human resources director, and Dawn Walker, HR generalist.

Walker was also presented with the Patriot Award in recognition for her support.ESGR is a Department of Defense office established in 1972 to develop and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service.
