Bootleg videos were seized by New Castle County Police earlier in the week.

On Monday morning, officers of the County Police Patrol Tactical Team were patrolling the apartment complexes adjoining Lancaster Pike.

PTT is comprised of a uniformed officer from each uniformed patrol squad along with a supervisor. The team is deployed to areas that are experiencing increased “quality of life” calls for police service that are identified during the department’s weekly Targeted Analytic Policing System (T.A.P.S.) meetings.

PTT officers observed a sedan that was displaying an expired temporary registration tag and stopped the vehicle in the area of Lancaster Pike and Route 141. Tyrus Davis, 36, was found to be the driver and discovered that his driver’s license was also suspended.

During the investigation, officers discovered 300 counterfeit DVDs in the vehicle. The DVDs included movies that were recently released. Flyers were also found advertising the DVD’s for sale for $4 each.

Davis, who resides in Salem, N.J. was taken into custody without incident. He was charged by County Police with felony Trademark Counterfeiting, Expired Tags and Driving Without a Valid License.

He was arraigned by J.P. Court 11 and released after posting $300 secured bond.

County Police also contacted an investigator from the Motion Picture Association regarding the incident.
