Contractor offers $3,000 reward after vandalism and trespassing at Lighthouse Cove

A contractor involved in beach work at the Lighthouse  Cove  (formerly Ruddertowne) project has offered a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those involved in vandalism at the site.

Diamond Hill, New Castle, posted an immediate $3,000 reward.

“The Lighthouse Cove beach renourishment project is permitted by state and federal agencies and enjoys widespread public support, according to a release from the contractor. “The permitting process extended over two years and included a public hearing in February. The renourishment project will expand public access to Rehoboth Bay for years to come.”

“No acts of illegal trespass or project sabotage will be tolerated,” stated Michael Sheehan, president, Diamond Hill, Inc. “We encourage persons with knowledge regarding these crimes to come forward to assist the Dewey Beach police and become eligible for the $3,000 reward.”

Diamond Hill, Inc., one of more than 50 contractors associated with the Lighthouse Cove redevelopment project. It is lead contractor on the beach project. The project includes a Hyatt Place hotel, residential units, meeting center and restaurant.

The project earlier survived major legal challenges.
