Mobile home fire near Lewes claims life

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a Saturday morning fire in the Lewes area that claimed a life.

One man was rescued from the mobile home and later died at the hospital.

The blaze, reported shortly before 9 a.m in the 34000 block of North Drive, West Bay Park, off Camp Arrowhead Road.

The Rehoboth Beach Fire Company arrived on the scene as smoke poured from the house trailer. One male was found unconscious and was taken to the Beebe Hospital where he later died. Several other fire companies assisted Rehoboth Beach.

State fire investigators are currently investigating the fire’s origin and cause. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will rule on the cause of death. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of Ken.

Fire damage is estimated at $30,000 and the home had smoke alarms. The Fire Marshal’s office will investigate whether the smoke alarms were working.
