As the Washington Business Journal  noted, Vice President Joe Biden will be happy about plans for his favorite sandwich chain to set up shop in the Washington, D.C. area.

George Vincent Jr.  signed an agreement to open Capriotti’s locations in the District, Maryland and Virginia and is actively seeking locations throughout the area. Biden reportedly catered his first inaugural lunch with Capriotti’s subs and his boss a year ago, mentioned the chain in a speech in Las Vegas.

The 89-unit chain is known for the Bobby, which is made with hand pulled turkey, cranberry sauce,   stuffing and a touch of mayo  on a roll.

The company plans to open a dozen stores in  Montgomery County, Md. , northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Vincent will utilize retail real estate firm Miller Walker to secure  restaurant locations throughout D.C., Maryland and northern Virginia.

“My wife and I have frequently traveled over an hour to get our hands on Capriotti’s famous subs, so we are thrilled to bring the brand’s outstanding flavor to our hometown for everyone to try,” said  Vincent.  “The Greater D.C. area has yet to be introduced to a sandwich company with such high quality subs and genuine customer service at an affordable price point.”

“Capriotti’s has seen unprecedented growth in the past year, as we continue to expand into new territories such as this,” said Ashley Morris, CEO of Capriotti’s. “This deal is an important milestone for the brand as we prepare to enter this rapidly growing market for the first time.”

Morris bought a controlling interest in the company from its founders.

Capriotti’s has been expanding nationwide after being founded in Delaware and building its biggest presence in Las Vegas, now its headquarters.

Shops  have opened in Arizona, Texas and even Beverly Hills, Calif. Over the years, the company has become  skilled  at finding bakers for  the rolls that are a key part of the sandwich offerings.

However, the company, until now,  has not moved into big East Coast metro areas like Washington, D.C. The company has been nibbling away at the Philadelphia metro area, with eight stores.
