The Delaware River and Bay Authority is joining airport owners around the country in promoting the New Castle Airport online and in the social media.

In response to the upcoming arrival of Frontier Airlines in July the authority added a web page and social media sites that provide information on flight updates, travel promotions and airport events.

Regional airports typically operate such pages as an information and promotial tool.

The airlines will offer 11 weekly flights to five destinations – Denver, Houston, Chicago, Orlando and Tampa.

“Twitter and Facebook make it easy for passengers flying in or out of Wilmington to get real-time flight and weather updates from us.  It also gives us a way to engage with future customers of our airport and answer any questions they may have,” said Stephen Williams, airports director for the Delaware River and Bay Authority.  “We hope to not only interact with customers in the area who plan to travel to Chicago, Denver, Houston, Orlando or Tampa, but also introduce the Delaware Valley and all it has to offer to guests coming to the area from those metro cities.  We’re excited about the possibilities.”

A more comprehensive story will be published in The Delaware Business Bulletin on Tuesday.
