Brian DiSabatino of  EDiS, a Wilmington-based construction management company, takes a look at Delaware economic indicators and finds reason for optimism, while noting  the high  hill the state has to climb.

First off,  DiSabatino notes that the downturn in the state could have been much worse. After all, Delaware’s jobless rate is still one percent better than the national average.

DiSabatino takes a look at empty office space in northern Delaware and calculates that the square footage represents 6,000  jobs that have been lost in the state since the economic downturn.
