Delawareonline.com has reported that JPMorgan Chase has acquired a former MBNA building at its former Ogletown complex south of Newark.
The bank earlier announced plans to add more than 1,000  jobs in Delaware in a number of employment areas.
The financial giant operates a campus a short distance away, near the Delaware Technical and Community College campus.
The Chase Card Services unit is based in downtown Wilmington.
It also has office space in the former Bank of New York complex just outside of Newark.
The state has been able to secure commitments from the state’s large banks for more jobs, with the prospect of additional jobs a key theme in the re-election bid of Gov. Jack Markell. Citi, Capital One (formerly INGDirect)  and Bank of America have all indicated that more jobs are coming to the state.

“We’ve been excited by Chase’s commitment to our state and their recognition that Delaware has a great workforce ready and willing to help the company grow,” said Brian Selander, a spokesman for the governor.

The state was able to hold on to a large percentage of financial services jobs during the recession and of late has seen job totals in that category begin to move up.

Bank of America, which acquired MBNA, is also looking at an Ogletown-area site for a data center.  The state has reportedly offered a $10 million financial package.
