Casino winnings have dropped  by 35.6 percent from a year ago at the casino west of Newark, Del. Casino owners want to return hundreds of slot machines to the State of Maryland in response to the decline brought on by the opening of the Maryland Live casino near Baltimore. Hollywood Casino  generated $5,992,576.12 in September, with gross gaming revenue per machine per day was $133  for the month. Maryland Live Casino generated $32 million in September, and its gross gaming revenue was $247  per day per machine. A published report indicated that Hollywood owner Penn National Gaming is negotiating  to purchase a stake in Maryland LIve. This comes as gaming giant Caesars and investors move toward construction of a casino in Baltimore. That would put further pressure on Hollywood Casino.
