Crime beat – Maid charged with theft; Gunman hits 2 Bear businesses

    A Wilmington-area woman has been charged with stealing from a home where she worked as a maid.

    New Castle County Detectives identified the suspect as Jacqueline Cuomo, 45, of the 4500  block of South Jane Way in Windermere, a community near Wilmington. 

    A resident of a home in the Wellington Hills area near Hockessin said he suspected that a woman had been stealing items. Detectives later learned that a woman had pawned some items.

    Cuomo was charged with felony theft. She was arraigned and  released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
    Investigators are asking that anyone who suspects a similar theft at their home to contact County Police (ATTN: Detective J. Breslin)  at 395-8110 or send him an email at jbreslin@nccde.org. 

    2 bear businesses robbed

    Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of two Bear area businesses Monday night.

    The first took place at Super Dry Cleaners at 1945 Pulaski Highway as the suspect entered the business armed with a handgun and confronted the clerk who fled to the rear of the store. The suspect left the scene.

    The second  occurred at   7:50 p.m. at the Holiday Hair Salon in the Eden Square Shopping Center. The man entered the business armed with a handgun and confronted female employees who turned over cash. The suspect fled the business on foot in an unknown direction.

    Suspect descriptions were the same in both incidents. The suspect is described as a white male, 5 ft.  7 to 5 ft. , 11 inches tall, wearing a tan/brown shirt, dark hat and sunglasses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Robbery Unit at Troop 2 at 302-834-2630 Extension #6.
