Delawareonline.com reports that Lee Williamson, the orchestra’s executive director, says the orchestra will spend the summer analyzing its operations. The restructuring is also expected to include conductor David Amado.
The orchestra’s annual budget is $2 million. The orchestra has been struggling in recent years as it competes for funds at a time when major underwriters have sharply reduced grants and other aid. Delawareonline.com also noted that the orchestra is in labor negotiations with its musicians.
The orchestra, like its counterparts elsewhere, struggles with an aging audience with many entertainment and cultural options.
