It has been the subject of speculation for years and perhaps decades, but Atlantic City’s Trump Plaza is up for sale, the top executive of Trump Entertainment Resorts confirmed to the Press of Atlantic City.
The Plaza is located in a busy area of the boardwalk, but like other Trump casinos has suffered from a heavy debt load that has limited renovations. The casino has been further hammered by gaming expansion in Pennsylvania and to a lesser extent, Delaware.
The company earlier sold off the Trump Marina, now the Golden Nugget. The Golden Nugget under went a major renovation, made possible by the low price paid by the buyer, the billionaire founder of a company that owns Rain Forest Cafe, Landry’s and other dining chains.
Trump is expected to plow the proceeds into its flagship Taj Mahal, which is facing a tough road ahead, thanks to the newly opened neighbor, The Revel.
PhillyGambles.com speculated on a few buyers who could be interested in the Trump Plaza. Find out more below:

Greetings Doug.
Thanks for mentioning our article at PhillyGambles on the subject. We like Penn National or David Cordish for reasons we outlined in the article you referenced. We’re following with interest movement in Delaware’s state government concerning Internet gambling.
Best regards,
Bill Ordine.
