Delaware.gov has gotten another makeover The portal is updated and refreshed every two to three years by the Delaware Government Information Center as technology improves and more “bells and whistles” appear on sites.

The site has a different look that reflects the current trend of large photos.

“The state’s new web portal was designed to be welcoming and easy to use, better connecting citizens to their government,” said Gov. Jack Markell. “When people want to find something, we think, through this redesign, they will more readily be able to locate it. Delaware.gov will direct citizens to the most useful services and information available to meet their needs at that moment and clearly indicate to them the priorities and initiatives of Delaware government.”

The biggest change over the past few years is the integration of the website with social media sites, most notably Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

State agencies have followed along, one example being the Delaware State Police. Their Facebook page now has more than 10,000 “likes.”

One thing is certain. The state’s website is a busy place. According to compete.com, the site has grown to 400,000 visitors, 100,000 or so ahead of the News Journal’s delawareonline.com site. – Doug Rainey
