Gov. Jack Markell has moved quickly and nominated an individual involved in an education reform effort in Delaware to be the new Secretary of Education.

Mark Murphy is a former teacher and principal.
In his current role as Executive Director of the Vision Network, Murphy works regularly with a coalition of 26 public schools in Delaware on improving education outcomes and the work of teachers. If confirmed, he would succeed Lillian Lowery, who is taking the same post in the more heavily populated state of Maryland. The Vision Network is part of the Vision 2015 initiative supported by the Rodel Foundation.
