For the fifth year, Interstate ‘Container, aided long-time partner, Mountaire Farms, in providing Thanksgiving meals.
Hundreds of volunteers, including employees from Mountaire and Interstate Container, came together in Selbyville,Lumber Bridge, NC and Siler City, NC to pack 14,500 dinner boxes in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. The packed boxes were distributed to food pantries, governmental agencies, churches, and shut-ins the week of Thanksgiving.
The dinner boxes contained all the necessary ingredients for a Thanksgiving dinner for up to five people, including a Mountaire roaster, corn, string beans, yams, stuffing mix, gravy, cranberry sauce and brownie mix.
Interstate Container plants in Cambridge, MD and Greeneville, TN worked closely, with suppliers Mark/Trece, Inc. and Stafford Cutting Dies, Inc. to produce and donate 21,000 corrugated boxes needed for this food drive and other Mountaire initiatives throughout the year.
Mountaire’s Thanksgiving for Thousands program was launched 22 years ago. In more recent years, the program was expanded to North Carolina.
