Vari sworn in as Family Court judge

Judge Vari Louann Vari was publicly sworn in for her first term as a Judge of the Family Court of the State of Delaware last week at a ceremony at  the Kent County Courthouse in Dover.

Vari replaces t William N. Nicholas, who retired earlier this week after 24 years of service.

Vari is a native of Kent County and a 1980 graduate of Lake Forest High School in Felton.

She received her B. A. in English and Psychology from the University of Delaware Honors Program, and her law degree, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law in 1991.

Vari returned to Kent County after law school, and practiced family and general law in Dover with Twilley and Street for several years.

She served as a Deputy Attorney General for eight years, and also worked for the Delaware Department of Education, where her practice focused on special education issues.

She has served as a Family Court Commissioner since July 2007. Vari is a board member of The Arc of Delaware and continues to live in Kent County with her family.
