Money School as executive director, Ronni Cohen received the 2016 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Legacy Award at a national conference.
The annual EIFLE awards honor the innovation, dedication and commitment of individuals and organizations to financial literacy education worldwide. According to the EIFLE press release, this year’s competition was impressive and diverse, with submissions from around the globe demonstrating the international importance of recognizing those at the forefront of financial education.
As founding executive director of Delaware Financial Literacy Institute (DFLI), Cohen has been instrumental in bringing free financial education to underserved populations, primarily minority women of low-to-moderate income levels, through the Money School and programs like From Purses to Portfolios and Money Clubs®.
In her acceptance remarks, Cohen joked that when she was younger, she assumed the adage to “pay yourself first” meant to go shopping!

Founded as The Money School in 1999 by then- State Treasurer Jack Markell, DFLI incorporated in 2001 and opened its office in 2002. Since then, DFLI has provided more than 7,000 free classes, events and programs statewide.
