A New Castle man faces multiple charges of  home improvement fraud

A team of officers from the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force took Mario Mareno, 49, of New Castle into custody in Dover.

Late last month,  New Castle County Police were first called to a home in the 800 block of Marsh Hawk Court in Middletown regarding a home improvement fraud complaint.

The homeowner said he signed an agreement in September 2015 with Mareno of Tradesmen Services, LLC to complete a deck at his home. During which time, the homeowner provided Mario with an undisclosed amount of money.  The project was expected to take a few weeks.

Mareno never returned after the installation of the concrete footers.

Police learned Mareno had multiple warrants for his arrest from the Delaware State Police and Middletown Police for home improvement fraud. He was taken into custody on Friday.

Mareno was arraigned and released after posting $4,000 secured bail.

Victims  are asked to call  the New Castle County Police Department  at (302) 573-2800.
