Ruddy named Delaware/Maryland president

PCS a regional IT company, announced the appointment of Jake Ruddy as President of DE/MD, effective immediately.

Ruddy merged his firm, Micro Medic, with PCS in 2007, joining the PCS team as the Director of DE/MD.

This appointment confirms what I knew when Jake Ruddy joined the PCS team,” said Anthony Mongeluzo, PCS’s CEO and president. “He was extremely talented, dedicated and had a larger vision for the direction of the company.”

During his tenure with PCS, the business growth in the Delaware and Maryland region had significantly surpassed the goals both Mongeluzo and Ruddy established.

In 2013, Ruddy led PCS to earn the Delaware State Chamber Award of Excellence for 25 to 59 Employees and Cecil County Chamber Small Business of the Year for 25 to 50 employees.

Sullivan to chair convention bureau

The Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau announced that William A. Sullivan was elected Chairman of the Board.

Sullivan succeeds Jill MacKenzie, Hagley Museum & Library, who will serve as First Vice Chairman. Carolyn Grubb, DuPont Hospitality, is Second Vice Chairman. Brad Wenger, Hilton Wilmington/Christiana, is Treasurer. Harry Roosevelt, former Director of Delaware Safety Council, is Secretary.

Sarah Willoughby executive director of GWCVB, said “We are delighted that Bill Sullivan has been elected Chairman of the Board. He will be a real asset to our organization. Bill has been recognized repeatedly for his expertise in the hospitality industry. He’s keenly aware of the bureau’s mission having served as a Board member since 2009 and Chairman of the Marketing Committee for several years.” Sullivan is the Managing Director of the Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware. He coordinates the “experiential training” at the hotel for students in the University’s Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Program.

He is employed by the Shaner Hotel Group as the on-site manager for the University of Delaware Blue Hen LLC hotel. He is also an adjunct faculty instructor for the Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management Program at both the University of Delaware and Widener University in Chester, Pa.

Sullivan was the recipient of the Delaware Tourism “Roy Klein Hall of Fame Award” in 2011, the University of Delaware’s Renaissance Award” for leadership in the community of Newark in 2009 and the “Governor’s Tourism Award” in 2007. In 2007, he was one of ten people in the industry ever to receive the “Technology Award of Merit” from the Hospitality Finance and Technology Professionals for the application of technology to improve business results and customer service. The Marriott Hotel he manages has received the “Platinum Award for Customer Service”, Marriott’s highest award for guest services, for nine consecutive years.

Fox succeeds Sager as DuPont general counsel

DuPont announced it has named Stacy L. Fox as senior vice president and general counsel effective Oct. 1, succeeding Thomas L. Sager, who is retiring following 37 years of service to the company.

He has set an exceptional benchmark as a lawyer through his unwavering commitment in promoting and developing diversity not only within DuPont, but throughout the legal community,” said DuPont CEO Ellen Kullman. “He has been an innovator and pioneer in the legal profession and all who worked with him will miss his steady counsel and strong leadership.

Stacy comes to us as a proven leader with exceptional experience as a lawyer and business executive. She will play an important role in supporting DuPont’s growth, and I am pleased to welcome her to the company.”

Prior to joining DuPont, Fox, 60, held the position of senior vice president, Strategy, and general counsel and secretary of Sunoco, Inc.

Previously, she served as executive vice president of Corporate Transactions and Legal Affairs for Visteon, an $18 billion multinational automotive supplier and general counsel of Collins & Aikman, also in the automotive industry. Fox began her legal career as a corporate and litigation associate at a well-regarded law firm, before moving in-house to Unisys and later Johnson Controls.

Most recently she has served under Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder as the deputy emergency manager for the city of Detroit, assisting his team in guiding the city through the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. In addition, she is a founder and principal of the Roxbury Group, a Detroit based real estate development and investment firm specializing in complex urban redevelopment projects.

Fox earned her J.D. at The University of Michigan Law School and B.S. with distinction at the University of Michigan.

Sager joined DuPont in 1976 as an attorney in the labor and corporate security group after receiving his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. He was named associate general counsel in 1994. In January 1998 he was named chief litigation counsel with responsibilities for all litigation.

Sager was named vice president and assistant general counsel in November 1999, and to his current position in July 2008. He helped pioneer the DuPont Convergence and Law Firm Partnering Program (DuPont Legal Model). Through his leadership, this program has become a benchmark in the industry and has received international acclaim for its innovative approach to the business of practicing law.

Former Justice Jacobs joins law firm

Sidley Austin LLP announced that Justice Jack B. Jacobs of the Delaware Supreme Court is joining the firm as Senior Counsel, effective October 1, 2014. He will be a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions transactional and litigation practices, as well as the Corporate Governance practice. He will continue to reside in Wilmington.

Jacobs has served on the Delaware Supreme Court since 2003 and announced his retirement from that Court in April, effective June 25, 2014. Before joining the Supreme Court, he had served as Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery since 1985.

Justice Jacobs will be an exceptional addition to our firm and a great asset to our many public company clients,” said Carter G. Phillips, chair of the firm’s executive committee. “His experience and expertise are extraordinary and are only matched by his collegial nature.”

The 29 years he has served in the Delaware judiciary have been the most eventful decades in the development of corporate law relating to public company mergers and corporate governance,” said Thomas A. Cole, chair of the executive committee for 15 years ending in 2013. “As a participant in many pivotal decisions during that era, Justice Jacobs can lend invaluable insights to our clients and colleagues.”

Houck named Faw, Casson partner

Faw Casson announced that Alison L. Houck, CPA has been promoted to partner.

Houck is the partner in charge of the firm’s Rehoboth office, and specializes in entrepreneurial services, where she helps businesses and organizations grow and strategically plan for their future. In addition to Entrepreneurial Services, she also works with HOAs and manages audits of Companies andAlison Houck Partner Employee Benefit Plans.

She is active in the local community through the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, as Treasurer for Tri-Delaware and Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club, and serving on event committees for Children & Families First and Beebe Medical Foundation.

She is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
