The Pete du Pont Freedom Award is named after one of Delaware’s most distinguished leaders. As Governor of Delaware, Presidential candidate, founder of GOPAC, a scholar at the Hudson Institute and the National Center for Policy Analysis and as a spokesman and writer, Pete du Pont has been a national leader in the cause of preserving and enhancing individual freedoms. 

Honored this year will be Charlie Horn, an Arizona entrepreneur and founder of the Horn entrepreneurial program at the University of Delaware.

The program has led to the formation of many start-up companies launched by current and former UD students.
