Ron Jaworski, Joe Flacco, hotel group acquire Middletown’s Back Creek Golf Club


Ron Jaworski Golf and partners Joe Flacco and GF Hotels and Resorts have acquired the Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown.

Flacco is the University of Delaware quarterback who led the Baltimore Ravens to a Superbowl victory.  Jaworski was a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles who got into the golf course business while in the NFL. After selling courses in the early 2000s, he reentered the business and is in a buying mode.

He built the business while also working as a sports commentator.

Back Creek joins seven other courses owned and operated by Ron Jaworski Golf (RJG). They include Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in Galloway Township, NJ, Downingtown Country Club in Downingtown, PA, Honey Run Golf Club in York, PA, Ramblewood Country Club in Mt. Laurel, NJ, RiverWinds Golf & Tennis Club in West Deptford, NJ, Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove, NJ, and Valleybrook Country Club in Blackwood, NJ.

Back Creek was designed by golf architects Allen Liddicoat and David Horne and opened in 1997. The par 71 layout measures 7,113 yards from the championship tee markers.


Back Creek GC, named among Golfweek’s “Best In State” and Golf Magazine’s “Best Public Courses.” Back Creek has also been ranked as one of Golfweek’s “Top 100 Modern Courses” and Golf Travel Magazine’s “Top 40 Public Courses in the U.S.”

Back Creek also has a restaurant and banquet venue. The Grille at Back Creek.

Golf courses have become more popular after a long period when properties in Delaware and elsewhere were sold to make way for housing developments. An earlier boom in golf courses was spurred by developers who built the courses as a way to sell new homes.
