New Castle County government received a $498,000 grant from Energize Delaware to purchase eight electric vehicles and two electric lawn mowers.
Earlier, the City of Newark received $490,000 in grant funding from Energize Delaware. This money will be used to purchase four EVs, two e-mowers, six charging stations throughout the city, and cover the cost of an EV charging station feasibility study.
Energize Delaware offers several programs, including — energy audits that identify where homes or buildings are losing energy; rebates on recommended upgrades such as new heating or cooling systems, hot-water heaters and more; low interest loans or grants for large renewable energy systems like solar and geothermal and programs for low-income households
EnergizeDelaware, a state entity, is self funded and raises money through bonds paid back back through energy and costs savings generated statewide.
