Middletown rehab hospital owner to add location in Concordville, PA

Encompass Health Corp. announced it plans to build a freestanding, 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Concordville, PA north of the Delaware line.

The hospital will be located on Baltimore Pike in  Concord Township.

Encompass operates a Delaware rehab hospital in Middletown.

The hospital will serve patients recovering from illnesses and injuries, including strokes and other neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions. In addition to 24–hour nursing care, the hospital will offer physical, occupational, and speech therapies to restore functional ability and quality of life. Care will be provided by highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians.

The hospital will feature private patient rooms, a therapy gym with rehabilitation technologies and activities of daily living suite, a dining room, a pharmacy, and a therapy courtyard.

“We are excited to expand our inpatient rehabilitation services to Delaware County, as we identified this as an underserved area,” said Pat Tuer, president of Encompass Health’s Northeast region. “The hospital will provide our patients with high-quality, compassionate and individualized care close to home, helping patients regain the strength and function needed to return to the community at their highest level of independence.”

The hospital will become part of Encompass Health’s national network of rehabilitation hospitals and will be Encompass Health’s 10th hospital in Pennsylvania.

Encompass is a publicly traded company based in Birmingham, AL.
