Delaware’s one NASCAR weekend faced delays due to a bout of bad weekend weather that led to the main race being moved from Sunday to Monday.

Friday qualifying at Dover Motor Speedway for the ARCA race and the Xfinity Series race on Sunday were canceled, with the NASCAR rulebook in place for placement. Rain was predicted throughout the day. Updates are available at the raceway’s website

The General Tire 125 ARCA Menards Series East race was postponed and did run on Friday, April 28th. The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 29th at 4:30 p.m. The Speedway Motorsports Weather Guarantee will be in effect for ticket holders who are not able to attend the rescheduled event.

The flagship Würth 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday, April 30 was postponed and moved to Monday after the hour of the race was moved up on hopes that weather would improve.

The raceway earlier saw the loss of one race under previous ownership when the company moved one race to its track in Nashville under previous owner Dover Motorsports.

The loss of the NASCAR weekend was a blow to the Dover economy, compounded this year by Firefly music festival taking what it described as a one-year break in 2023. Firefly uses a portion of the Dover track’s property with rent paid to the track’s owner, Speedway Motorsports, one of two large operators of NASCAR tracks.
