Croda names Atlas Point site director

Dube

Croda, Inc.  appointed Josh Dube to site director of its Atlas Point facility in New Castle., Delaware. Dube, an employee of Croda for four years, began new role on April 3, 2023. Currently serving as Batch Plant Operations Manager for Atlas Point, Dube is responsible for employee safety and wellbeing; oversees operations and engineering resources; manages union employee contract negotiations; most recently, led the facility’s 10-year development plan.

In his new role, he will now lead all activities at the Atlas Point location. This will include a strong focus on safety, health, and environmental regulations; operations; quality; maintenance; capital planning and execution; supply planning; and employee relations. He will also oversee the Atlas Point Community Advisory Council (CAC).

Dube will be succeeding Chris Barnett, who has served as Atlas Point’s site director for over seven years. Barnett will remain with Croda to serve as Site Director of Croda’s Mill Hall facility in Central Pennsylvania.

Dube is a graduate of Widener University, is a licensed Professional Engineer, has completed sustainability leadership training with the Cambridge Institute, and is currently earning his MBA at West Chester University. 

Lang new executive director at A Better Delaware

Ethan Lang is the new Executive Director of A Better Delaware, a public policy group with a pro-business focus.

In April, Lang will succeed Kathleen Rutherford, who has accepted a position as an advocacy consultant for the D.C.-based Taxpayer Protection Alliance.

Lang attended  Dartmouth College, one of the eight Ivy League schools, and will graduate with government and public policy degrees. He was also appointed as the Deputy Recorder of Deeds in Kent County. 

“A Better Delaware is laying the groundwork for change in our state,” said Lang.“I hope to build upon the strong foundation of my predecessors and bring my perspective to the organization. To me, this is personal. I am young and want to see a Delaware I can continue to be proud to raise in my family. I hope to expand upon our extensive social media reach across all our platforms and continue our grassroots efforts in promoting policies that will benefit our economy. Our mission is essential; Delaware needs a government that is transparent and accountable to the people.”

Journalism Collaborative names La Prade as project manager
The Delaware Journalism Collaborative, a statewide partnership of local news organizations and community partners, has hired Darel La Prade as project manager.

Underwritten by a two-year grant from the Solutions Journalism Network, the collaborative was formed by the Local Journalism Initiative of Delaware in 2022 to encourage local newsrooms to pool news gathering, reporting, editing and production efforts with the goal of producing groundbreaking journalism that will strengthen the entire Delaware community.

La Prade has been a journalist for more than four decades. He has experience as a reporter, editor and publisher. Most recently, he served as the group publisher for the Delmarva Group of Independent Newsmedia Inc., a position he held for five years.

Fay joins Wilson Sonsini
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, a provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, announced today that Erin Fay has joined the firm as a corporate partner in Wilmington, where she will be a member of the restructuring practice. Fay is the third partner to join Wilson Sonsini in Wilmington in the last seven months.

In September 2022, Wilson Sonsini announced that Allurie Kephart had joined its Wilmington office as a partner in the firm’s corporate department. Kephart has experience in restructuring and bankruptcy matters, as well as other areas of expertise. In August 2022, the firm announced that former Delaware Court of Chancery Vice Chancellor Joseph Slights had joined the litigation department in Wilmington as a partner. Wilson Sonsini’s Wilmington office has grown to 35 attorneys, including 10 partners.

Fay has spent the past 15 years focused on bankruptcy and restructuring matters. Before joining Wilson Sonsini, Fay was a partner at Wilmington-based Bayard, P.A., where she was a member of that firm’s business restructuring and liquidations group. Prior to joining Bayard in 2017, she worked at Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP as an associate for more than eight years.

Fay earned her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a B.A. in English and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Potter Anderson announces hires

Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP  announced two new lateral hires in its Corporate Litigation Group. 

Marco

Lilianna Anh P. Townsend joined as counsel in the Corporate Litigation Group where she will focus on corporate and commercial litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery. Townsend comes to the firm from the litigation group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom where her practice focused on corporate and commercial litigation. She also served as a judicial law clerk for  Joseph R. Slights III in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Emily Marco joins the Corporate Litigation Group as an associate. Prior to joining the firm, Marco was an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati where she focused on corporate law and governance.

AT&T names new external affairs president

Vince Apruzzese is AT&T’s new president for external affairs in Delaware, Maryland and Washington, DC, expanding his current territory beyond Virginia, where he has served as president since 2010.

In this role, Vince leads AT&T’s legislative, public policy and philanthropic initiatives in these jurisdictions, where he works with elected and appointed officials on public policy issues, and with business, community and civic leaders to support important local initiatives.

He joined AT&T more than three decades ago in accounts payable and has served in roles ranging from domestic and international corporate security to legislative affairs. 

Apruzzese graduated from Georgia State University. He also is a U.S. Army Veteran, having served 10 years in the Army Reserve and National Guard as a commissioned officer. He is the father of 3 and lives in Richmond with his spouse, Mary. 

He replaced Denis Dunn who retired this month.

Becker Morgan Group grows leadership team

Becker Morgan Group announced additions to its leadership team, welcoming one new Senior Associate and three new Associates.

Allison L. Shockley  has been promoted to Senior Associate. Allison started her career with Becker Morgan Group in 2012 after completing her Master of Architecture at The University of Maryland. She returned to Becker Morgan Group in 2021 after spending five years in Charlotte, NC. 
Tylershane Giffear, PE, Civil Engineer, is now an Associate with Becker Morgan Group. Tyler joined Becker Morgan in 2018, having recently graduated from the University of Delaware. Tyler received licensure in 2022 and has put that knowledge to work for clients throughout the region, with particular emphasis in northern Delaware. One of Tyler’s more significant projects has been Winchelsea, a 132-acre subdivision near Middletown. 
Andrew P. Colletti, Civil Designer, has been promoted to Associate. Drew started with Becker Morgan Group in 2016. A 2014 graduate of the University of Delaware, he has broad experience in all aspects of civil site design and has specific experience working with large industrial sites throughout northern Delaware. His notable project work includes the 190-acre WuXi AppTec Pharmaceutical site in Middletown, DE, and Glasgow Commons in Newark, DE, a 149-acre logistics campus.
Ryan J. Musacchio, PE, Civil Engineer, is now an Associate at Becker Morgan Group. Upon graduation from the University of Delaware, he joined the firm full time in 2014. Ryan has developed skills and experience across a wide variety of projects and has become well-versed in land development regulations in New Castle County.  In addition to various retail commercial site plans, Ryan is also experienced in designing residential subdivisions.

Croda advisor named to county board

Croda, Inc., announced  its Atlas Point facility’s lead Safety, Health, and Environment Advisor, Allison Bard was appointed to a four-year term on New Castle County’s Resource Protection Area Technical Advisory Committee.

In her role on this committee, Bard will assist with providing technical support and recommendations to the New Castle County Department of Land Use concerning certain land use matters including, but not limited to, the definition and criteria of any resource protection area; interpretation of specific environmental standards and proposed amendments to the standards; variance and land development applications related to Resource Protection Areas; and other assistance as requested by the Department.

Bard, who has over 11 years of regulatory experience in environmental compliance, permitting, and inspection, manages the Atlas Point facility’s environmental permitting and compliance for related water and air quality programs.

Before her role at Croda, Bard worked as an environmental scientist and health specialist for the State of Delaware. She has also worked at the University of Delaware and for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government in Kentucky.
