Armored car company employee charged with theft of cash

Delaware State Police have arrested Alfred Virellas, 40,  of Wilmington for felony theft after an investigation that began Thursday morning.

On April 20, 2023, a manager at GardaWorld, an armored car and cash management company at 212 East Lea Boulevard in Wilmington, contacted troopers and advised that an employee had stolen over $11,000 in cash throughout March 2023.

The employee, identified as Alfred Virellas, had money from cash bags several times while working for GardaWorld. The money was never returned.

Troopers went to GardaWorld and were able to take Virellas into custody without incident.

Virellas was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
