Five held after troopers find more than $92,000 in shoplifted items from Rehoboth outlet businesses

Delaware State Police have arrested five suspects in connection with multiple Rehoboth outlet shopliftings that netted more than $92,000 in merchandise.

On February 27, at about 3:31 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the Cosmetic Company outlet store located at 34986 Midway Outlet Drive, Rehoboth Beach, DE regarding shoplifting.

It was reported that four females and one male fled from the store with merchandise and drove off in a light blue minivan with California tags.

Troopers located a vehicle matching the description traveling northbound on Coastal Highway (Route 1) near Broadkill Bridge.

A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver identified as Vidu Miclescu, 20 , and four occupants, Mirela Velcu, 41, Madalina Pirvu,29, Speranta Dumitru,34, Ancuta Ignat,37, all of Middle River, MD.

The trooper viewed stolen merchandise in plain sight inside of the vehicle. All five were taken into custody without incident, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 92,322.98 worth of stolen merchandise, which included fragrances, clothing, purses, and blankets, $9,866 in cash, two large fixed-blade knives and brass knuckles. At this time, the suspects allegedly took items from three businesses – Cosmetic Company Outlet, Cracker Barrel, and Coach Outlet.

The suspects face multiple charges and were held after lacking more than $16,000 in cash bail.
