Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia President Patrick Harker will be part of a panel at Delaware’s annual Economic Forecast.

Harker’s comments will be closely followed by the financial media, especially since the former University of Delaware President in 2023 will serve as a  member of the Open Market Committee, which sets interest rates. All Federal Reserve governors participate in discussions that have led to interest rate hikes in an effort to battle inflation.

The event on Jan. 18 is sponsored by the Lyons Companies and the University of Delaware Center for Economic Education & Entrepreneurship.

Other speakers at the event are

  • Michael K. Farr, chief market strategist, Hightower Advisors, LLC and a long-time panelist at the annual event
  • Dan Mahaffee, senior vice president and director of policy, Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress.

Not joining the forecast this year is Jon Hilsenrath, an editor at the Wall Street Journal who was the longtime moderator of the panel.
