Liquidation sales are underway at 115 Sears Hometown stores across 36 states and Puerto Rico after a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in Delaware.
The only Sears Hometown store is in Seaford.
“This truly is an extraordinary buying opportunity for communities across America,” noted Arnold L. Jacobs, Executive Managing Director, Tiger Capital Group. “These 8,000 to 10,000 square-foot stores are filled with in-demand tools and home appliances.”
Sears Hometown was part of an effort by Sears to reverse long-running sales declines by offering its well-known Craftsman and Kenmore brands in smaller store formats.
The parent company also acquired Kmart, another troubled chain and eventually shut down all of its stores.
