Kent, Sussex now in ‘moderate’ Covid-19 category

Two Delaware counties have moved back into the “medium spread zone for Covid-19.

Both Kent and Sussex moved into the yellow category, with New Castle County now in the low or “green zone, according to the Centers for Disease Control’s county widget. (See below).

The CDC advises those of higher risk of Covid-19 complications should wear masks in public places.

Hospitalizations have remained above 100 for the virus at hospitals in the state after dropping below that figure earlier in the fall,  according to  Delaware Division of Public Health stats.

The uptick was expected, due to Thanksgiving get-togethers and other events.
 
There have been concerns about a “tripledemic,” with flu cases up sharply and the RSV virus making an appearance.
 
The number of people in critical condition dropped later in the week week, although new hospital admissions were up.
 
Delaware’s total number of COVID-related deaths now total 3,172.
 
Public health officials continue to urge the public to get bivalent booster vaccinations that are widely available in the state.
 
Slightly more than two million vaccine doses have been administered in Delaware, according to the CDC.
