Harington Raceway and Casino in Kent County will reopen at 10 a.m. today in time for New Year’s Eve events.

The casino had been closed during much of the week due to cybersecurity issues.

The casino issued the following on social media earlier in the week:

“Harrington Raceway, Inc. is currently experiencing technical difficulties that are causing a temporary disruption to gaming and computer systems. We are working diligently to investigate the source of the disruption, confirm its impact on our systems, and restore full functionality to our affected systems as quickly as possible. We have significant resources, including cyber security specialists, devoted to this process and our work to resolve this issue is ongoing.”.

Harrington is one of three “racinos” in the state that offer horse racing seasons and casino gaming. The Delaware State Lottery shares revenue with the casino, with proceeds going into state coffers.

A message was sent to the State Lottery seeking comment.

A few years ago, casinos pushed for changes in the formula on claims of operating losses. Changes were made, and two of three state casinos were sold, with Harrington remaining the only locally-owned operation. Delaware Park is now owned by Canadian investors with Bally’s, a nationwide gaming company buying Dover Downs.

The majority ownership in the Harrington casino has ties is the nearby Delaware State Fair. Harrington is the smallest of three state racinos.
