Delaware motorists got tricks and no treats on Halloween as the average gas price bucked national trends and jumped 18 cents a gallon during the past week.
Meanwhile, the price at the pump nationwide dropped three cents a gallon during the past week. with New England states facing the biggest price jumps.
AAA reported the following changes in its weekly report: Rhode Island (+27 cents), Alaska (−24 cents), Connecticut (+22 cents), Maine (+22 cents), New Hampshire (+20 cents), Massachusetts (+19 cents), California (−19 cents), New Jersey (+18 cents), Delaware (+16 cents) and Vermont (+15 cents).
Accounting for much of the decline in the national gas price were West Coast states which had been dealing with tight supplies and refineries undergoing maintenance.
Industry publication Freight Waves reported tight fuel inventories on the East Coast, with worries about a shortage of diesel fuel that powers much of the nation’s freight movement.
According to AAA’s Fuel Finder, warehouse clubs, like Costco were offering prices at $3.50 a gallon or slightly less.
