AmeriHealth Caritas, as expanded its presence in the Health Insurance Marketplace  this fall. The Pennsylvania company earlier announced it had added Delaware to the states where it will offer Marketplace coverage to individuals who don’t have access to health insurance.

In addition to Delaware, Florida, and South Carolina, Amerihealth Caritas is adding counties in North Carolina. The expansion builds on the existing work AmeriHealth Caritas companies already deliver in these states in serving Medicaid enrollees.

Amerihealth Caritas has been a Medicaid provider in Delaware for those who qualify for the program for lower income individuals and families.

Amerihealth Caritas will join another newcomer CVS/Aetna in offering Marketplace coverage. Up until this enrollment period, Highmark had been the only Marketplace insurer.

“Our mission to help people get care, stay well, and build healthy communities begins with helping them access affordable health care, and the expansion of AmeriHealth Caritas Next is an important step to achieving this goal,” said AmeriHealth Caritas CEO Paul A. Tufano. “We will have an opportunity to provide quality health care options to an even larger population and to carry out our commitment to support our members on their full life journey, from wellness to resilience, so they can reach their American Dream.”
