Editor’s note: Delaware Business Now and other online sites receive a lot of releases that rank states on things ranging from favorite candy to taxes. Below are a couple of examples.
Delaware ranks a solid sixth when it comes to those seeking information on a possible move.
Research conducted by TexasRealEstateSource.com examined Google data of search terms frequently used by people interested in moving to another state. These terms were then combined to give each state a ‘total search score’ to discover which states with the highest level of interest.
South Carolina ranks highest as the state most interested in moving house this year.
The study revealed that Delaware has the seventh-highest search levels for the term ‘move house’ and is the second-highest searches state for the term ‘mortgage’, contributing to a search score of 512.
As the authors noted, it will be interesting to see whether sharply higher mortgage rates will translate into fewer moves.
Move-in activity has been the strongest in Sussex County. For residents of high property tax states, like New Jersey, the real estate tax bill can be more than yearly mortgage payments for a Delaware home.
State | Rank | Total search score |

A spokesperson from TexasRealEstateSource.com commented on the findings: “This year, we’ve seen fluctuations in house prices across America, which can easily lead to many thinking about relocating, downsizing or moving home.
This study provides interesting insight into which states are the most eager to move this year, and as house prices continue to shift, it will be interesting to see if these searches translate into sales.”
This study was conducted by TexasRealEstateSource.com, the one-stop source for Texas real estate.

Equally surprising is Pennsylvaia’s 49th ranking, given the reputation of Philadlephia drivers.
