President Joe Biden and First  Lady Jill Biden returned to northern Delaware  Tuesday night after the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act at the White House.

On Tuesday, Biden flew from a beach vacation in South Carolina to the White House to sign the sweeping legislation that, despite its name, puts a focus on the federal government negotiating with drug companies for Medicare prescriptions while providing incentives for  clean energy.

The bill also puts a 15% floor on corporate taxes for large companies making $1 billion in profits. Companies have a variety of legal means to reduce that tax rate and sometimes pay zero taxes.

Business groups, including chambers of commerce, opposed that measure.claiming it would make the US less competitive. No Delaware chambers of commerce signed the letter.

Biden had earlier spent time at the family’s home in Rehoboth after a long period of isolation that came after testing positive for Covid and later getting a bounceback case.

It was also announced that First Lady Dr. Jill Biden tested positive for Covid-19 and experienced mild symptoms.

Flight restrictions in the Wilmington area are in place through Friday.

Presidents traditionally take vacations during August. That custom changed during Biden’s time in office due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Biden will return to the Greenville area home  before the BMW Championship gets underway at the nearby Wilmington Country Club.

The tournament comes amid a controversy over a Saudi-backed golf tour with the PGA barring players who joined the venture.

Golfing legend Tiger Woods flew to Delaware reportedly to meet with other players regarding the competing tour.

Biden earlier made a controversial visit to Saudi Arabia to meet with leaders in that nation. A member of the royal family has been linked to the murder of a  Saudi dissident with the conduct of the regime bolstering the PGA’s case.

The BMW Championship is expected to attract thousands to the course to the PGA event. Limited parking at the country club is expected to lead to many taking shuttle buses to the tourney.
