Dover Federal CEO leaving organization

Chaz Rzewnick

The Board of Directors of Dover Federal Credit Union announced  that Chaz Rzewnicki, CEO is departing the based credit union.

In 2016, Chaz was promoted to the role of CEO, the same year, the credit union recorded a $6.3 million loss. 

 “Through Chaz’s servant leadership style, he was able to return the credit union to profitability, create an inclusive workspace, lead a technology evolution, and improve relationships in the communities DFCU serves,” a release stated.

Donna Kiscaden who is the current Chief Financial and Risk Officer, will serve as interim CEO while the board conducts its search for CEO.

Dover Federal Credit Union was first chartered in 1958 by a handful of Air Force and civilian workers at Dover Air Force Base. Today, Dover Federal serves over 40,000 members and has eight locations throughout the state of Delaware.

The Delaware Community Foundation announced the following: 

Joanne McGeoch was named vice president for philanthropy.
A nonprofit executive and fundraising professional since 2003, McGeoch has worked in senior leadership positions for exceptional nonprofits in Delaware and Pennsylvania, including Habitat for Humanity, Tyler Arboretum, Greener Partners and Delaware Nature Society. Most recently, McGeoch served as interim executive director and chief development officer at Delaware Nature Society.

The Delaware Community Foundation welcomed Pam Cornforth, Frances Gauthier and Louisa Phillips to its Board of Directors. The 2022-2024 chair is Drew Fennell, who succeeds outgoing chair Bill Dugdale. The new vice chair is Chanta Howard-Wilkinson. Pete Kennedy will serve as treasurer.

Gauthier is litigation director at the Legal Services Corporation of Delaware, where she represents low-income clients in mortgage foreclosure actions and consumer bankruptcies. 

Grunewald

Cornforth has served as president and CEO of the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware since 1999, is the incoming chair of the Fund for Women. 

Phillips, a Dover resident who retired from Bayhealth Medical Center in 2017, is returning to the DCF board as an at-large member after serving as the chair of the Fund for Women from 2020-2022. 

The Community Foundation announced two new titles for its staff: Sarah Grunewald is the new executive vice president for strategic engagement, and Yolanda Rushdan is the new senior program officer of the community impact team.

Grunewald has been working at the Delaware Community Foundation for over four years, leading the community impact team. Her new role will include continued work on community impact as well as responsibilities related to “building a positive, engaged, inclusive and productive culture.”

Rushdan has been a staff member of the DCF for three years, working with Grunewald on the community impact team. Her new role includes her being the point person for executing the program activities of the DCF, including efforts to engage and serve donors. She will manage the DCF’s discretionary grants programs and lead data collection related to these.

DANA announces two board members

 The Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement announced the addition of two new board members. 

Kathleen Hawkins, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, and Kevin Gilmore, CEO of Habitat for Humanity, were elected by the DANA membership as board members.

In addition, three existing DANA board members were re-elected to serve second three-year terms: Dominic Canuso, executive vice President with WSFS Bank; Fayetta Blake, Executive Director of Pathways to Success; and Jennifer Cho, director, head of community relations/citizenship leader with Barclays.

Hawkins has worked in the financial services industry since 1989. She started her career with JP Morgan, served as the Executive Director of Eastern Pennsylvania and Peninsula-Delaware United Methodist Foundation, and has spent the last 18 years with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

Gilmore started his work with Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer with the Campus Chapter at Elon University in North Carolina.  Kevin then worked with Habitat International at their headquarters in Americus, Georgia, and then served with them for four years in Guatemala. 

Kevin came to work with Sussex County Habitat for Humanity in 2004 as their first paid employee. Kevin has served nationally on the Habitat for Humanity International US.

Ronald McDonald House officers, board members elected.

The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware elected new officers and Board members to its Board of Directors at its annual meeting. 

Officers for 2022-2023 are: Chair, Kenneth C. Manne, SVP corporate services, general counsel & secretary NEIL; Vice Presidents – Ryan Brazell, regional sales leader, Grant Thornton; Pauline Corso, senior vice president & chief operating officer, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware; Dominic Canuso, CFO, WSFS Bank;  David Hancox, senior director of nursing for the acute inpatient operations, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware; Keith Kepplinger, executive director, client advisor J.P. Morgan Private Bank; Michele Meixell, communications consultant, MLM Communications, LLC.Secretary – Katie Migliocco, senior director Capital One Retail & Direct Bank; Treasurer – Christopher S. Marshall, SVP. card services, Bank of America.

The newly elected Board of Directors are: Tim Daning, executive vice president, Breakthru Beverage Delaware; Lynn Kuttruff,  Compass RE/The Mottola Group; Casey Storm Melson, human resources global senior manager, CSC; Connie Miller, director of investments, NEIL.

The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware provides accommodations for families with children receiving treatment at local hospitals by offering nurturing and supportive environments where families can stay together and find comfort. 

Delaware Governor’s Office personnel changes

Governor John Carney on Wednesday announced changes to his leadership team in the Office of the Governor:

Sheila Grant, who has served as chief of staff since 2019, will leave the Governor’s office in August to serve in the White House as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Presidential Speechwriter. Before her tenure as chief of staff, Grant served as the Governor’s deputy chief of staff, and as chief of staff in Governor Carney’s congressional office and has been his primary speechwriter over the past decade. She was previously an aide for Senator Tom Carper. 

Jonathan Starkey, who served for five years as the Governor’s deputy chief of staff for communications, will replace Grant as chief of staff. Starkey has recently worked as director of corporate communications for Sallie Mae, and previously as director of public relations for the Delaware State Housing Authority. 

Albert Shields, who has served as the governor’s deputy chief of staff for policy for five-and-a-half years, will leave the Governor’s office in August to serve as Director of Business and Economic Development at the University of Delaware. Shields served in various roles during Governor Carney’s time in Congress and as Lieutenant Governor. He also served as legislative aide to former Delaware House Speaker Bob Gilligan.  

Jessica Borcky Weinberg has been named Deputy Chief of Staff. Borcky Weinberg is currently director of digital government and senior advisor to the governor. She has been a member of the Governor’s team in various capacities since 2014. 

Beebe Foundation adds board member

Sokolov

The Board of the Beebe Medical Foundation has recently approved Richard Sokolov as a new member of the Board of Directors. He will begin his term of service on Aug. 12. 

Sokolov is currently Vice Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of Simon Property Group (NYSE). He previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Simon from 1996 until February 2019.

Prior to that he served as CEO, President and member of the board of DeBartolo Realty Corporation.

Sokolov recently served as Chairman of “A Greater Penn State: The Campaign for 21st Century Excellence” which concluded this June. 

Tyson

Surgeon joins Beebe medical staff

Beebe Medical Group welcomed board-certified general surgeon John William Tyson, MD to its medical staff.

Tyson completed both his General Surgery residency and his General Surgery Internship at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. He served in the Navy for 14 years. Previously, he served as both Clerkship Director and Associate Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine.

 His most recent experience is as an Acute Care/Trauma surgeon at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he also was involved in surgical residency training.

Dr. Tyson is one of more than 100 new providers who have joined Beebe Medical Group in the last two years.

Gail Renulfi, sales leader of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors. Hockessin-Pike Creek Office, welcomed Annette Kaplan as a sales associate.

She is a member of the New Castle County Board of Realtors. She resides in Wilmington and serves New Castle, Chester and Delaware counties.
