President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden spent a quiet weekend at their home near Rehoboth Beach.

The Bidens flew from the White House on the Marine One helicopter on Friday night. Their departure to the White House from Rehoboth is slated for 8:15 p.m.

The First Couple last year largely avoided the busy July-August season in the beach town. There have been concerns about crowding in the town and airspace restrictions affecting the lucrative business of flying advertising banners near the busy beach.

Flight restrictions remain in place in the Rehoboth area into Sunday night.

The visit generated no news, in contrast to a couple of weeks ago when the president fell from his bike while greeting visitors. He was not injured, but the incident generated more fodder for detractors who continue to cite his age and alleged diminished mental capacity.

The Biden Administration received some good news on Friday when a jobs report seem to indicate that a recession was not underway, nor was the number so strong that it would prompt more aggressive action by the Federal Reserve in its efforts to fight inflation by raising interest rates.

Wall Street digested the report and ended the day basically unchanged.

Next week, the president will travel to the Middle East to meet with the leaders of Israel and Saudi Arabia. Expected to be on the agenda in oil-rich Saudi Arabia will provide help with oil prices that had been on the rise, even before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
