Covation Biomaterials is the new name of a company spun off from the sale of DuPont Biomaterials to the Huafon Group, a company based in China.
Covation will be headquartered near Newark.

Acquired in the sale
- – Sorona, a partially bio-based polymer used in carpets and fabrics.
- – Susterra , a 100% plant-based, high-performance building block that reduces the need for petroleum-based components Its applications range from footwear and outdoor apparel to coatings, inks and functional fluids;
- Zemea, a plant-based and biodegradable material. Markets for Zemea‘include home care, pharmaceuticals and enhancements to flavors and foods.
- DuPont made big investments in materials that would move the company away from the use of petroleum.

Founded in 1991, headquartered in Ruian, China, Huafon Group is based in Rulan China. It is one of the largest manufacturers of polyurethane materials in the world with product portfolio in adipic acid, polyester polyols, spandex filament, microfiber material, TPU, polyamide and other matrials. Huafon Group has more than 14,000 employees.
