According to Friday figures from AAA, the price of gas continued to drop in Delaware.

The price of crude oil on the Nymex exchange was trading at $102 a barrel, up from as low as $95 a barrel earlier in the week.

Delaware’s gas price drop led to its net price at the pump being comparable with the figure from neighboring New Jersey and Maryland. In the past, not all of the benefits of the state’s lower gas tax made their way to the pump, perhaps due to less competition from independent stations.

The gap was reduced when Wawa, the starte’s largest gas station chain, lowered its prices.

According to AAA’s Fuel Finder, $4 a gallon gas was widely available in Delaware. The Costco membership store in the Christiana Mall area south of Newark again emerged with the lowest price at $3.90 a gallon.
