Beebe Healthcare tours of its Specialty Surgical Hospital are fully booked, despite the addition of dates this Sunday.
The complex, which has a price tag of $100 million, is slated to open in May.
The facility features four operating rooms, 18 bays for pre- and post-operative care, and 24 private, short-stay inpatient rooms. It also houses imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy services, as well as a new location for our Rehoboth Walk-In Care Center. The walk-in center is slated to open in June.
“For years, Beebe has taken steps to ensure that quality and safe healthcare is available to the people of Sussex County for the present and future,” said David A. Tam, CEO, Beebe Healthcare. “The Specialty Surgical Hospital on Beebe’s Rehoboth Health Campus symbolizes the rapid evolution in healthcare. Medical technology and care protocols make it possible for patients to receive safe, innovative care with shorter inpatient stays or even as an outpatient procedure. As Sussex County grows, so does Beebe. This investment is our commitment to you.”
Beebe has been expanding the Rehoboth campus after deciding some time ago against adding beds at its flagship hospital in Lewes.
Coastal Sussex has seen rapid population growth and a growing population of elderly.
“Surgeons will perform simple to sophisticated procedures, leveraging robotic surgical systems as well as minimally invasive and navigation-based tools to optimize the process of surgical care for each and every patient treated,” said James Spellman, MD, chief of Surgery at Beebe Healthcare. “This means shorter stays and faster recovery times so patients can get back to their optimal level of health.”
Beebe Healthcare is a not-for-profit community healthcare system. Beebe Healthcare has three campuses: the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus, which houses the medical center; the Rehoboth Health Campus; and the South Coastal Health Campus.
